HOW TO USE THE RADIAL ARTERY HEMOSTATIC DEVICE

HOW TO USE THE Radial artery hemostatic device

Radial artery hemostatic device is a surgical product used to stop bleeding, mainly used in the medical field. It compresses the radial artery and blocks blood flow, thereby stopping bleeding. Radial artery compression bandage usually consists of an adjustable strap and compression device that allows the pressure to be adjusted as needed.

According to the different usage methods and shapes, radial artery hemostatic device can be divided into two categories: manual compression hemostats and automatic compression hemostats. Manual compression hemostats require a doctor or nurse to manually adjust the pressure and duration, while automatic compression hemostats can automatically perform compression based on preset parameters.

The Radial artery torniquet hemostat produced by our company has easy pressure adjustment, and the strap is made of soft material for higher comfort.

Using a radial artery hemostatic device involves the following steps:

1. Preparation: Gather all the necessary materials, including the radial arterial hemostatic device, sterile gloves, antiseptic solution, sterile drapes, and sterile gauze.

2. Positioning: Position the patient in a comfortable supine position with the arm extended and slightly abducted. Place a rolled towel or wrist support under the wrist to hyperextend it.

3. Sterilization: Cleanse the patient's wrist and forearm with an antiseptic solution, ensuring that the entire area is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Allow the antiseptic solution to dry completely.

4. Anesthesia: Administer a local anesthetic to numb the radial artery puncture site. This can be done using a small-gauge needle and injecting a small amount of anesthetic solution.

5. Arterial puncture: Locate the radial artery by palpating the pulse just below the base of the thumb. Once the artery is located, use a sterile needle and syringe to puncture the artery and withdraw a small amount of blood for analysis if required.

6. Insertion of the hemostatic device: Insert the radial arterial hemostatic device into the puncture site, following the manufacturer's instructions. The device typically consists of a sheath, a compression pad, and a securing mechanism.

7. Securing the device: Once the device is inserted, secure it in place by tightening the securing mechanism. This will apply pressure to the puncture site and prevent bleeding.

8. Monitoring: Monitor the patient closely for any signs of bleeding or complications. Check the distal pulse regularly to ensure adequate blood flow.

9. Post-procedure care: Apply a sterile dressing over the puncture site to keep it clean and prevent infection. Instruct the patient to keep the wrist immobilized and avoid any strenuous activities for a certain period, as advised by the healthcare provider.

10. Removal of the device: The radial arterial hemostatic device is typically removed after a certain period, as recommended by the healthcare provider. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for safe removal, ensuring that the puncture site is adequately compressed to prevent bleeding.

It is important to note that the above steps are a general guideline and may vary depending on the specific radial arterial hemostatic device being used. Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the specific device being used and consult with a healthcare professional for proper training and guidance.
