Medical consumables themselves have low profits and huge usage. Absolute market space is exchanged for lower prices, which is most vividly reflected in the field of low consumption. Disposable precision infusion sets fell by 83% in the first batch of centralized bulk purchases of consumables in Hubei Province in 2020, with the lowest quotation being only 1.18 yuan. In July 2021, the four cities of Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Xinzhou, and Luliang were selected for mass procurement of Anesthesia consumables. There were 468 products in 7 categories, including analgesic devices and anesthesia puncture kits, with the highest drop of 94.7%. In December 2020, six categories of medical consumables such as disposable nebulizers and disposable drainage bags were purchased in concentrated quantities in Luohe City, Zhumadian City, and Xinyang City, with the highest decline of 91%. There is no doubt that as the centralized procurement of low-value consumables continues to expand, the advantages of domestic low-value medical consumables will be further stimulated. Although most of the profits have been sacrificed, the huge market still brings considerable value. As the Anhui Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau said, for low-value consumables, centralized purchasing has effectively squeezed out the room for falsely high prices of consumables. While further increasing industry concentration, it is also expected to give birth to a number of domestic leading companies in low-value consumables.
